Clarissa Place Hello everyone it is election time again and here are the positions available.
The Events Society will be running elections for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Marketing. The elections are to be held from Monday 2nd of April until 3pm on Thursday 5th April. We encourage all members to nominate themselves and vote in the election.
ELECTIONS
• Members can vote for one week by sending your votes to the events society email. eventssociety@hotmail.co.uk
• Results will be announces on Facebook Events Society Members Only page on Friday 6th April.
NOMINATING YOURSELF
Each candidate is asked for a 50 - 100 word manifesto on why they feel they are suitable for the role. Please send these via email to eventssociety@hotmail.co.uk.
These will then be published on Facebook for society members to make an informed vote.
You will have two weeks to submit your nomination from Monday 19th March to Friday 30th March.
THE ROLES
PRESIDENT
The person in this position will oversee the running of events and meetings. This person must be organised, committed, enthusiastic and highly motivational to support the rest of the society during difficulties. Listening and communication skills are essential to the success of the society, as are abilities to delegate and be politely assertive.
VICE PRESIDENT
This position requires the same personal skills as the president. The candidate will also be required to share the president’s work load, and take charge if the president is unavailable.
SECRETARY
This person must be organised with an emphasis on communication skills. Key duties of the secretary include but are not limited to taking notes during meetings, regularly checking the society’s Facebook page, Twitter page, UMSA page and email account as well as handling enquiries from within and outside the society.
TREASURER
The person in this role is responsible for taking care of the accounts creating detailed budgets and spreadsheets for money transactions. You will be responsible of withdrawing money from UMSA. The accounts will be handed over as they currently stand to the successful candidate.
HEAD OF MARKETING AND ADVERTISING
The candidate needs to be creative and needs to be competent at a computer design programme e.g. Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator. This executive will be responsible for producing all posters, flyers and any other promotional materials for the society run events and any projects in collaboration with outside organizations. They also need to be aware of all events happening on and off of campus.
PLEASE NOTE
All nominees should be prepared to dedicate up to 4 hours per week to society work. This is likely to increase in the run up to events and during freshers/refreshers week.
