FOUR people were injured as an ambulance rolled onto its side in a crash on the A30, just outside Crewkerne.

Photos from the scene show that the ambulance was significantly damaged after the crash involving a van at about 6pm yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

Two paramedics from the ambulance and two people driving in the van were taken to Yeovil District Hospital with minor injuries. There was no patient in the ambulance at the time.

An off-duty paramedic, fire crews and police attended the scene.

The A30 Yeovil Road was closed in both directions between Crewkerne and Haselbury while the scene was cleared.

An investigation is now expected to be launched into what caused the crash.
