Pulman’s Weekly News in East Devon and South Somerset and View From titles in Dorset are published by Capital Media News Limited, which also has publishing interests in Central and South London. The company is based in Lyme Regis, Dorset and Penge, London.
Pulman’s Weekly News was founded in 1857 and is one of Devon’s oldest newspapers. View From titles were launched in 2004 by veteran journalist Philip Evans and the two groups amalgamated under the ownership of Tindle Newspapers Ltd, the biggest group of independently owned newspapers in the UK.
In January 2016 Capital News Media Limited (CMN) acquired the former Pulman’s and View From titles with a number of titles in London. CMN is owned by Philip Evans, Karen Sheppard (Joint Managing Director with Mr Evans of the London Weekly News stable in Central London and MD of the South London Press and Mercury series) and Hannah Walker (Editor in Chief of the South London Press and The Mercury).
Tindle Newspapers Limited retain a 10 per cent share holding.
The Greenwich Mercury is one of London’s oldest newspapers, having been founded in 1933.
CMN distribute more than 43,000 copies weekly in East Devon, West Dorset and South Somerset.
Circulation/distribution of the London titles exceeds 80,000 weekly.
