A BUSY last big weekend of the season completed a successful first year for the Pure Endurance Triathlon Club.
The club had 16 team members taking part in the Roadford Lake Team Sprint Event (400m Swim, 13km Bike & 3.5km Run). Meanwhile, Tom Priest took on the Bournemouth Marathon (26.6miles) and completed in 2hrs 57mins (14mins PB) 27th out of 11,000people.
At Roadford Lake the weather was unpredictable with wind and rain one moment then sun the next. Club spokesman Andrew Dare said: “The club entered four teams, all the team members did amazingly well. “We had some members who have been competing in triathlons for year and some in their first season and those that were in their first race.
“It was great to see everyone cheering for one another and seeing a fantastic team spirit. “The Men’s team did amazingly well in a very strong field. The Mixed A ripped up the course coming in first in their category, and the Mixed B put in a very strong performance just missing out on 3rd position by one minute.
“The Vets had a great race in a very strong field. Time for a rest now and begin to prepare for next season, which we’re all very excited about.
