Two dead in A303 crash


AVON and Somerset Police have confirmed that two people died on the A303 near Buckland St Mary this afternoon.

A force spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A303.

“The incident involving a car and a van happened at about 1pm.

“Sadly two people have died.”

Initial reports said there were three casualties. The condition of the third casualty has not yet been disclosed.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said that three air ambulances plus a several ambulances and rapid response cars were sent to the scene.

The road remains closed pending an investigation by collision investigators.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

The spokesperson added: “Anyone who was in the area who has information to help our enquiries is asked to call 101 and speak to the collision investigation unit, quoting log 0460 of October 31st.”
