Hi, My name is Brendan McCarthy and I work at UMSA as the Representation and Democracy Co-ordinator. I have just joined UMSA in August 2011, having moved from the University of Chichester Students’ Union where I was President of the Students’ Union.
My role at UMSA is wide ranging and encompasses many aspects of student life at the Medway campus. I provide training and support to all of the academic reps who study on the Medway campus. Each institution operates their academic rep system differently and even gives them different names, so I try my best to ensure that reps on the Medway campus get the best training and support! Throughout the year I will also be trying to get all of the reps from across the Medway campus together for social events.
The second main element of my role is Elections. In early 2012 UMSA shall be electing its Student Executive Committee and it is my job to ensure as lots of students nominate themselves in the election and that we have a good voter turnout.
