Student VoiceWHAT IS LET'S TALK ABOUT...?

What is it?

As part of UMSA’s student engagement strategy, the executive committee has created five zones of the union to allow any student studying at the Medway Campus to feed in issues that are affecting them.

How does it work?

Students will be invited to attend an informal hour and a half/two hour session and tell our UMSA executive committee officers the issues that are affecting them. There are three sessions in total for LTA… Education, Events and Student Life and if you are a member of a Society or Sports Team you can attend the Society or Sports sub group to discuss these areas. To find out which one is best placed to explore your particular issue take a look at the five different LTA.. zones listed on the left hand side.

When are they taking place?

The first sessions are taking place on the following dates:

LTA… Events - Wednesday 8th February 2012 at 12pm

LTA… Student Life - Wednesday 15th February 2012 at 2pm

LTA… Education - Wednesday 22nd February 2012 at 12pm

All sessions start at the UMSA Activities Office in the Pilkington Building.

What happens once I have attended?

The issues will be forwarded to one of five Let’s Talk About Sub Groups… This sub group will be attended by full time sabbatical officers from Kent, Greenwich and Christ Church Students’ Unions. These officers sit on the most senior committees in the University so they can help push forward any changes you would like made.

Can I attend the Sub Group?

Students are encouraged to attend and get involved, The executive committee is only small and the officers would really love your help running campiagns and developing policy that can be submitted to the executive committee.

Sounds great where can I sign up?

The dates of the sessions will be announced just after the xmas break. The zones will be launched at the Refreshers Fair on Wednesday 1st February in the Pilkington Open Space so you can come and speak to our officers there.

How will I know what happened with the issues I raised?

Everyone who attends the sessions will be asked for their email address and updated at every stage of the process from what happened at the sub group if they could not attend up to the university response to your particular issue.

Checkout more about each zone and find out which one you want to attend by looking at the five zones labelled LTA…on the left hand side.

PS: You can attend as many or as little sessions as you like. In fact we would love to see you at all of them.
