THE  Friends of Crewkerne Station are pleased with speedy repairs of steps at the station.

Friends secretary Gail Coleshill  said that access at this point is particularly important because there is no other pedestrian-designated route into the station.

She said: “The access steps down to the station have been condemned and temporary repairs are being carried out to make them safe.

“Network Rail will be assessing the damage and costs in all the stations and finding out whether new replacements are necessary or whether long term repairs are suitable.

“I am very pleased at the speedy repair of the steps.

“We have suggested to Network Rail and South West Trains that a designated pavement through the car park would be a good solution but are told there is no room on the site for anything  except the parking – which we believe is not sufficient anyway.”
