Six-hit Hornets sting Exe

Honiton Hornets 6 Exe 5ths 1
HONITON made three changes to last week’s team with Izzy Stribling and Helen French making their debuts while Vanessa Trude returned on the left wing.

Whilst the Hornets had the majority of the ball in the first half the Exe keeper made some great saves and it was Exe who took the lead when they managed to take advantage of a high first shot clearance from the Hornets.

The Hornets equalised before half-time through Jean Gormley who managed to slot it in the corner from a really tight angle. In the second half Honiton maintained the intensity of their attacks and were awarded with five more goals.

Most notable were a strong open hand shot from Kat Tucker from the top of the circle while Stribling lifted a shot over the keeper’s left glove and Trude slotted in a long cross field pass into the left corner of the goal. Trude then completed her hat trick.

There were great performances across the pitch, but joint players of the match were Helen French and Denise Underhill with Izzy Stribling a vote behind.

Honiton Hornets are always keen to welcome new players to their friendly and competitive team, see for contact details.
