THE 1st Lym Valley Scouts gave their best shot at target shooting during a visit to the The Tunnel Target Sports Centre in Charmouth.

A group of 14 Scouts from the Uplyme-based troop tried their hand at aiming and shooting targets on both the 25m and 35m ranges.

For some, it was their first time handling a rifle, and by the end of the evening all of the scouts were able to hit the target with some ability.

The Scouts also held a competition to see who could hit 10 targets using only 10 rounds, with the winner of the competition being announced at the next troop meeting.

Scout leader and trip organiser Dave Wareham said: “It was a pleasure to take Scouts to The Tunnel to do something different. It’s all part of our aim to give everyday adventure to every child who joins us.”

It is anticipated that the Scouts will make further trips to The Tunnel to complete their Master At Arms badge. Boys and girls aged between 10 and 14 are welcome to join the troop and those interested should email
