Police chase after woman overturns car in Charmouth

The car was found overturned with no occupants in Charmouth

A POLICE chase in Lyme Regis ensued yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon after a woman overturned her car in Charmouth.

At 2.20pm on Wednesday, police were called to a single car crash involving a blue Ford Fiesta on its roof in Stonebarrow Lane, Charmouth.

When officers attended there was no one with the vehicle, and with concern for the welfare of the driver and occupants a search of the area was conducted.

As enquiries continued, the search turned into a foot chase around the Queen’s Walk area of Lyme Regis, with the National Police Air Service helicopter assisting.

At 5pm an 18-year-old woman from Lyme Regis was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink. She is currently in custody assisting with enquiries.

She has since been charged with drink driving and bailed to appear before Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on April 26th.
