National call-up for Holyrood Academy’s Szydetko

HONOUR: Emil Szydetko

HOLYROOD Academy Sixth Form BTEC Sport student Emil Szydetko was recently selected to represent the Poland U20 National Rugby team.

Szydetko, who recently joined Chard RFC, attended open trials in Exeter and after impressing the selectors was chosen to attend a training camp in Poland where the squad trained four times a day for a week, culminating in a 22-10 victory in an international match against Lithuania.

After playing for 40 minutes in the match he said: “I have gained so much experience and can’t wait for the next game. I live by the motto: The only pain in Rugby is regret; take all the chances you get!”
