Brewery tour, tasting and ale supper

18.30 – 22.00

Location: Shepard Neame Brewery, Faversham

During this visit you will have an exclusive 80-minute tour of the brewery, a fascinating tutored and tasting session and an ale supper of your choice served in the Visitor Centre bar. Of course, there’s also time for a pint or two with your meal! Finally, visit the Brewery Shop and pick up a souvenir, gift or some beer! The whole visit, including the ale supper will start at 7pm, takes 3 - 3½ hours and should finish no later than 10.30pm.

There are two staircases (with handrails) on the tour route; therefore, it is advised that the tour may be difficult for infirm visitors and is not suitable for wheelchair users.  A “virtual tour” with a guide for such visitors can be arranged. Please make a note on the reply slip if you require a virtual tour.

The Chemical Society has subsidised the price of the evening which is brought to you at a reduced price of just £15 per person. If you wish to attend please contact Sam Booth, Medway Sciences, Central Avenue, Chatham Maritime. Kent ME4 4TB (Tel 01634 883187; email S.E.Booth@gre.ac.uk) for a registration form.

In recognition of Remembrance Day …  Kiefer Sutherland and Robert Carlyle star in this true-life story of extreme endurance, survival and redemption set amidst the brutality of a Japanese POW camp.  Based on the book by Captain Ernest Gordon, To End all Wars tells of a group of men who must find the inner strength to survive. Graphic and gritty, this true story is about the will to survive and the courage to forgive.

I think this is going to be a nice film. However,I hope there would be no chasing terrorists like in "24".

Artist talk and discussion

17.00 – 18.00

Location: Bridge Wardens College, lecture theatre

British artist Peter Fillingham is fascinated by the functionality of objects and their misappropriation. The particular aesthetic association of each object and its utility, how we live with them according to the era from which they originate. He has a strong relationship and interest in his living space and equally with his own working space as an artist. In his work there is a certain intimacy which expresses itself through the way people arrange their spaces both in their public and private lives.
