Cadets create ‘Poppy Man’

HONITON Cadets have created a ‘Poppy Man’ – raising more than £1,000 for the Royal British Legion in the process.

The impressive structure is made up of more than a thousands poppies donated by the Honiton branch of the RBL.

The 1064 squadron have been out in force around the town collecting money to go towards the military charity.

The poppy man was created thanks to Joshua’s in Ottery and Otter Nurseries who donated chicken wire and a mannequin to form the structure.

The cadets then got to work attaching the poppies to the wire and have created the magnificent ‘Poppy Man’ (pictured).

Squadron members pulled out for special praise were Sergeant Rosen, Cadet Pegg and Cadet Gilbert who has taken parts of the poppy man home with her to complete.

The squadron’s next fundraising event will be a Jumble Sale on November 19th at the cadets recently opened centre on Kings Street.
